tomatoes

my garden died. it has just been too chilly, too unpredictable. the tomatoes looked forlorn.

i was fairly sure we'd get some tomatoes somehow, but i wasn't going to worry about it. that same night, i got a phone call from someone down the way. they run a greenhouse, and they were not able to sell all their tomatoes. they were going to have to throw them out, unless they found someone who could use them.

she wondered if we could use them? boy, could we! not only did we use them, i shared them with some of our neighbors. it felt good to have something to give. these days i feel like we are mostly being helped. i loved giving out big bags of tomatoes.

we had 2 containers full of the largest, and reddest tomatoes. we've eaten them like candy. i have frozen them. i didn't feel like canning, it was too hot. however, i have almost 40qts frozen. they are filling up our freezer, and it's lovely. i love how God provides for us, even when we're not sure it will happen. i love how the tomatoes are something extra, luxurious, and we even had enough to eat every day and every meal for a full week.
